You guys are getting a special treat this week - This recipe was created by my great-grandmother! This recipe is a great choice for homemade brownies with everything you have at your house (except for baking chocolate, which I know most people don't use anymore -- but I do!). Please, please, PLEASE try this out the next time you get a hankering for brownies. These are dense with chocolate but not overly sweet, if you make them without the icing.
Disclaimer: You do NOT need icing on these brownies. But for some reason, I decided I needed to be extra gluttonous. But like I said, they are absolutely sweet and perfect without any toppings - even if they're made plain! I tossed in walnuts this time, but usually I cut up dried fruit like apricots, dates and apples to the mix.
Also, there are no great photos of the individual brownies, since they were quite messy when I took them out of the pan. (Also, I did not wait for them to cool or set... so that could have something to do with it, too! Ha)
